TED TALK - perception and 'ways of knowing'

http://www.ted.com/talks/daniel_tammet_different_ways_of_knowing.html

This is a great talk by Daniel Tammet. He explores the way that we use our senses and how they can be deceived. he also tells us that we should not take these senses for granted because they are not something we do not have to control to ensure we are using them correctly. he also explores the notion of our consciousness arguing it is the greatest mystery in modern science.

Introduction to the Theory of Knowledge (blog topic one)

Welcome to the Theory of knowledge. To begin the course we will use the TOK diagram to help us understand how we use the 'ways of knowing' like our senses or our ability to reason to understand the world around us and how they relate to 'areas of knowledge' like Science or History. For example, can we trust our senses when we can be so easily deceived? What are the implications of this problem when it comes to the empiricism involved in the Scientific method?

Can you think of any other interesting connections between the 'ways of knowing' and the 'areas of knowledge'? any problems between them? can you think of any other 'ways of knowing' or 'areas of knowledge'?
